Collection: Mattia Riami

I’m very drawn to the human figure, especially portraits and the expression of emotions. I try to capture the signs that feelings leave on the skin, the face, and the hands.

My goal is to show human fragility through a black line that breaks the limits of the figure, going beyond the painted base.

My favorite medium is paper. I work in a direct way, without making any sketches. I use very diluted acrylics to shape the figures, then I add details with pastel. The lines in this second step are strong and spontaneous. When they mix with water, they create soft effects that contrast with sharper areas.

I also really love pencils and pastels. For editorial or commercial work, I often mix these techniques with digital tools to make the process faster.
